Returning for its 18th year this Saturday is the St. Joseph Lions Club middle school basketball tournament.

Lions club member and event organizer Bret Witkowski tells us the St. Joseph High School fieldhouse event will feature 16 teams competing for it all.

“Everybody gets three games,” Witkowski says. “We have grades from six to eight. All the officials are registered officials. The doors will open at 8, games start at 9. Last game’s at 4.”

Witkowski says this gives players another opportunity to play this season, with a little extra special event.

“Usually they’ll play 12 games a year and they get to go three in one day,” Witkowski says. “Plus we’ll have what is really cool if you want to see something, a NBA mimic three point contest.”

Tickets are $5 per person for admission. Doors will open at 8 a.m. The games will begin at 9 a.m.

All proceeds go towards sending kids to Camp Leo.
