Officials in Michigan town along Lake Huron hope to become a destination for cruises.
Tourism leaders in East Tawas in Northeast Michigan have joined an international cruise marketing program called Cruise the Great Lakes with the hope of becoming a stop for cruises. Developed by Osco President Rich Castle says Tawas has a lot to offer.
“You are immediately right adjacent to East Tawas Beach,” Castle said. “We have the ability to be able to do rentals to use Tawas Bay from a jet ski perspective, other amenities, but then a short distance, you’re literally right into downtown East Tawas.”
Castle says the downtown is charming with a lot of shops and restaurants. He says they’re also looking at developing excursions to go to the Ausable River, Oscoda, and Tawas State Park.
