St. Joseph residents interested in running for city commission this year are being advised that new application packets are now available.

The city says every odd year brings an election for St. Joseph City Commission, and three seats will be up for grabs come November.

The candidate application packets are now available at the city clerk’s office and the city’s website with the deadline to apply being April 22.

Up to six candidates will appear on the general election ballot on November 4. If more than six apply to run, then there will be a primary on August 5 to select those six. The two candidates receiving the greatest number of votes in November will receive four-year terms, and the candidate with the third-greatest number of votes will receive a two-year term.

You can find the application packet right here, and anyone with questions should contact the St. Joseph City Clerk.
