The Berrien County GOP will hold a forum next weekend featuring four candidates for the chair of the Michigan Republican Party.

Berrien County GOP Secretary Victory Woodall tells us the race for a new chair in the party is key as Michigan Republicans seek to replace Governor Gretchen Whitmer in 2026.

Her governorship has been an absolute disaster and we have a lot of repair work to do,” Woodall said. “So this is a very important position in order to get the Republicans back in charge of the state of Michigan.”

On hand for next Saturday’s forum will be political consultant Scott Greenlee, former ambassador Joe Cella, state Senator Jim Runestad, and Michigan Republican Co-Chair Meshawn Maddock. Each wants to lead the state’s Republican party. Woodall says they’re coming to the area as the Berrien County Republican Party becomes a real force in Michigan politics.

We’ve tried to focus on getting our name out there more and getting more people involved with the Republican party locally, and I think this is a testament to that. We’ve been successful at doing that over the last couple of years.”

The moderators for the MI GOP Super Saturday forum will be state Senator Jonathan Lindsey and state Representative Steve Carra.

The forum will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, January 25 at Copozio’s Restaurant in Harbert. Admission will be $10, and Woodall says it’s open to the public. In particular, she invites all precinct delegates to attend.
