E.P. Clarke Elementary is marking its 60th year of education this year.

School PTO President Meghan Cox tells us a special celebration is scheduled for this Friday to commemorate the school’s history and impact in the community.

“We’ll have a little celebration from our current principal, Jessica Lafayette, Cox says. “Then we have a movie celebrating 60 ways why we love E.P. Clark, and that kind of has interviews and different things from current, past students, educators, administrators, people in the community.”

The elementary school, which opened its doors in 1964, was a significant addition to the community at the time of its establishment. Cox expresses hope that in the coming 60 years, E.P. Clarke will continue its mission of delivering quality education and learning to local residents.

“I hope the next 60 years brings the same feeling of community and sense of the love and the kindness that the school embraces and the kind of acceptance that E.P. Clark really holds true to its heart,” Cox says.

The 60th birthday celebration will take place at E.P. Clarke Elementary on January 10, from 6 to 8 p.m., and everyone is welcome to join the festivities.
