Along with returning gifts, many of us will be re-gifting, but there’s a proper way to do it.
Etiquette expert Valerie Sokolosky says make sure you know who gave you the gift so you don’t mistakenly gift it back to them or others in the same social circle. Also, make sure if there’s a To and From tag on an item, take it off.
“There’s always someone that can appreciate something you can’t or don’t,” Sokoloski said. “Like donate to people, donate to homes, donate to people that maybe aren’t getting very many gifts at all.”
Sokolosky says if someone who gave you a gift finds out you re-gifted, just be honest and nicely explain why.
