Families can take advantage of the great outdoors of Southwest Michigan.

The Southwest Michigan Tourist Council has a full calendar of events that include activities around the region.

Executive director Marcy Simpson tells us people should check out what there is to offer to get out the house.

“It’s always pretty to get out and play in the snow, make a snowman,” Simpson says. “We have amazing trails that folks can get out in the outdoors and get on. It’s just a wonderful place to be.”

People can explore the outdoors at the lights at the bluff and bike trails. Those looking for indoor activities can head to the St. Joseph public library for the kids, or the Box Factory for the Arts for entertainment.

“Another activity that families and children could do is exploring the murals in southwest Michigan,” Simpson says. “We have over 40 murals. They’re spread out all through Harbor, St. Joe, Buchanan.”
