Chiefs 29, Steelers 10 – Mahomes throws 3 TDs as Chiefs clinch AFC’s top seed by breezing past the Steelers 29-10
Patrick Mahomes passed for 320 yards and three touchdowns and the Kansas City Chiefs locked up the top seed in the AFC for the fourth time in seven seasons with a 29-10 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The two-time defending Super Bowl champions raced to an early 13-point lead and were never really threatened by the Steelers (10-6). Pittsburgh has dropped three straight to see its chances of capturing the AFC North take another hit. Travis Kelce caught eight passes for 84 yards and a touchdown. Kelce also became the third tight end in NFL history to reach 1,000 receptions, joining Tony Gonzalez and Jason Witten.

Ravens 31, Texans 2 – Jackson breaks Vick’s NFL rushing record for QBs in Ravens’ rout over Texans
Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson passed Michael Vick for the most yards rushing by a quarterback in NFL history in a 31-2 win over the Houston Texans in Wednesday. Jackson moved past Vick on a 6-yard run in the third quarter. Jackson had 87 yards rushing to give him 6,110 yards, moving him past Vick, who piled up 6,109 in his 13-year career.

NFL – Seahawks look to boost fading playoff hopes against struggling Bears
The Seattle Seahawks look to boost their fading playoff hopes when they visit the struggling Chicago Bears. Seattle trails the NFC West-leading Los Angeles Rams by one game with two to play. The Seahawks lost 27-24 to Minnesota last week. The Bears have dropped nine in a row since beating Jacksonville in London in Week 6. A loss to Seattle would give Chicago double-digit losing streaks for the second time in GM Ryan Poles’ three years. The Bears dropped the final 10 in 2022 as part of a franchise-worst 14-game slide that stretched into last year. They’ve never lost more than 10 straight in one season.

NFL/NCAAFB – Saturday NFL draws larger audience than college football playoff games
A pair of Saturday NFL games drew a larger viewing audience than college football for the rollout of the sport’s 12-team playoff. The game between SMU and Penn State averaged 6.4 million viewers on TNT networks, compared with the Texans-Chiefs game on NBC, which averaged 15.5 million viewers. Later, Clemson-Texas drew 8.6 million viewers on TNT, compared with 15.4 million for Steelers-Ravens on Fox. ESPN, ABC and others aired the other two college games — Indiana-Notre Dame (13.4 million) on Friday night and Tennessee-Ohio State (14.3 million) on Saturday night. The overall average of 10.6 million viewers was higher than all but four college games this season.
