AAA will be doing its part to help keep drunk drivers off the road this Christmas and New Year’s.
The auto club says it will activate its Tow to Go program on Tuesday night and keep it open through 6 a.m. on Thursday, January 2. AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland tells us Tow to Go is a way for someone who’s had too much to drink to get a ride home and a tow.
“The program is free and it’s open to AAA members and non-members,” Woodland said. “We ask everyone to make plans ahead of time. If you know you’re going to be out consuming alcohol or other impairing substances, that you make plans for a safe ride home first. If those plans fall through, you can call AAA and we’ll get you to a safe location.”
Tow To Go will take someone and their vehicle to a safe location within ten miles.
Woodland says since the program was started, it’s prevented more than more than 25,000 drunk drivers from getting on the road. Still, she stresses Tow To Go is to be viewed as a last resort.
