Lake Michigan College employees have continued a Christmas tradition by delivering holiday food baskets to individuals and families in need.

This year’s delivery, on December 17, marked the 41st anniversary of the annual Holiday Food Basket event. 50 baskets were packed and delivered, thanks to the efforts of about 30 employees and their families.

The recipients included 40 individuals and families referred by the Area Agency on Aging, five families served by the Readiness Center, and five Lake Michigan College students experiencing food insecurity.

Each basket contained food, and families with pets also received treats for their little friends, ensuring everyone in the household felt the holiday spirit.

LMC President Dr. Trevor Kubatzke says the event “exemplifies the spirit of giving at LMC.”

The baskets themselves were donated by the HES Facilities Management company, while the food was purchased through contributions from LMC employees and funds raised by the HFB Committee.
