Benton Harbor Mayor Marcus Muhammad has promised to do his part in the fight against antisemitism.
Muhammad attended the Mayors Against Antisemitism Summit in Beverly Hills, California, which was held December 11 through December 13. He told the assembled mayors, rabbis, priests, and pastors he was there to listen and learn.
“Because I believe that in order to eradicate and to decimate anti-Semitism, racism, sexism, and whatever ism is plaguing humanity, we have to come together and put our good words into practice,” Muhammad said.
Muhammad recalled helping organize an interfaith prayer vigil in 2018 after the Pittsburg synagogue shooting. He told those assembled he would bring what he learned at the summit back to Benton Harbor to be shared with the community.
Muhammad was invited to the summit as a guest.
