Michigan State Police will graduate 12 new motor carrier officers from the 27th Motor Carrier Officer Recruit School in Friday.
Motor carriers are uniformed members of the MSP who specialize in commercial vehicle enforcement. They enforce traffic safety laws on commercial vehicles, protect the infrastructure through size and weight enforcement, conduct commercial vehicle and driver inspections, and contribute to homeland security efforts by enforcing hazardous material regulations.
Among the graduates are three new motor carrier officers who will be assigned to the Niles state police post. They’ll be responsible for ensuring the safety of all the semis we see on I-94 each day. The post’s new officers are Riley Huff of Onstead, Peter Reynolds of Holland, and Tanner Underwood of Battle Creek.
At Friday’s graduation ceremony, the new officers will be officially sworn in by Colonel James F. Grady, director of the Michigan State Police.
