The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi and its Four Winds Casinos have made a donation of 1,000 food boxes to those in need for Christmas.

This year’s Christmas food box includes a smoked ham, stuffing mix, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberry sauce, and a pumpkin pie.

Casino staff gathered in South Bend on Tuesday to give out the boxes, which will be going to organizations in Indiana and Michigan. They include Decatur Human Services in Decatur, Cooperating Ministries and Methodist Church in Hartford, Action Ministry Center in Dowagiac, Caring Connection in Benton Harbor, and United Methodist Church in Lawrence.

Four Winds Casinos Chief Operating Officer Mary Smith says the annual food giveaway is heartwarming for team members, and she thanked the organizations that will help with distribution.

The Pokagons also donated 1,000 holiday meal boxes for Thanksgiving.
