Another leader at the University of Michigan’s home has been vandalized, and now the incident is being investigated as a hate crime.
This is not the first time U of M Regent and Attorney Jordan Acker has dealt with vandals.
In the summer, Acker’slaw office in Southfield was spray painted with anti-Semitic messages and Acker says around two o’clock Monday morning, he and his three children were waking up to glass shattering in the living room after someone threw two mason jars filled with an unknown substance through his window. He also found his car spray painted in red with the w and divest.
Acker believes these incidents are motivated by the fact that he’s Jewish.
“You know, as a dad, there’s nothing that you want to do more than keep your family safe, keep my girls safe, and it’s horrifying,” Acker said. “It’s horrifying that someone would think that this is some sort of political message that they’re sending. They’re not.”
U of M says the vandalism at Acker’s home is “a clear act of antisemitic intimidation.”
