More than $3 million from the state’s Going PRO Talent Fund has been awarded to Southwest Michigan businesses to train their employees.
Michigan Works helps secure the grants for employers each year and says 43 will benefit in this current round of funding, totaling $3.1 million.
Michigan Works Director of Business Solutions Mark O’Reilly tells us the organization knows training is expensive and time consuming, which is why it always submits as many applications as it can for Going PRO funding. He says the support announced this week will help 1,600 new workers, incumbent workers, and apprentices get training without the financial stress that usually comes with it.
Going Pro Talent Fund grants benefit employers in a variety of industries, whether it’s healthcare, manufacturing, or hospitality. O’Reilly says the grants help keep jobs here in Southwest Michigan and have a significant financial impact.
Among the employers receiving training funds through this cycle of grants are Bronson South Haven, Custom Tool and Die Company, Flowers Early Learning, Kay Manufacturing, Leco Corporation, and Niles Steel Tank.
