An 80-year-old Paw Paw man is facing charges after police say they found more than 1.5 pounds of meth in his home.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says detectives searched the property in Almena Township after making several purchases of meth from the suspect. During the search last Wednesday, they found a small amount of meth in the garage, along with some pipes and some scales. However, the suspect then told detectives there were more meth in the basement of the house. The subsequent search turned up 1.6 pounds of it.
The sheriff’s department says the suspect admitted to trafficking drugs. He was arrested and taken to the Van Buren County Jail while the prosecutor pursues charges.
The man’s wife was in the home at the time of the search, but police don’t consider her a suspect.
