There’s good news when it comes to recycling in Michigan.
The state announcing that we’re well on our way to the goal of having a 30% recycling rate by 2029. Matt Flechter is a recycling specialist with the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy. He says our ultimate goal is much bigger.
“There’s a lot of pride,” Flechter said. “There’s a lot of work to be done yet though. We’re not all the way there. Our ultimate goal is to be at 45% and that would be in the top of the country, the best of the country.”
Flechter says Michigan’s recycling rate already makes us a nationwide leader.
