Nick Chubb ran for a 2-yard touchdown in heavy snow with 57 seconds left, and the Cleveland Browns stunned division rival Pittsburgh 24-19, ending the Steelers’ five-game winning streak. The Browns had blown a 12-point lead in the fourth quarter and were down 19-18 before getting the ball back with 3:22 remaining after Pittsburgh punter Corliss Waitman shanked a 16-yarder. With snow piling up and covering the yard lines on the field, Cleveland’s Jameis Winston completed a third-down pass to Jerry Jeudy to the Pittsburgh 9. Two plays later, Chubb barreled into the end zone. The AFC North-leading Steelers fell to 8-3 while the Browns are 3-8.

Anthony Richardson wants his doubters to know one thing: Last week’s performance was no fluke. All he has to do Sunday is prove it. After scoring the winning touchdown to beat the New York Jets, last year’s No. 4 overall draft pick faces a more daunting challenge against Detroit. The Lions are off to their best start since 1934, are tied with Kansas City for the NFL’s best record at 9-1 and have won a league-high eight straight games. Now everyone is waiting to see what Richardson will do for an encore.
NFL – Vikings eye 4th straight win, try to gain ground in NFC North when they meet Bears
The Minnesota Vikings understand the Chicago Bears are trying to keep a season that’s slipping away from falling completely out of reach and are a little wary of this week’s matchup. The Vikings eye their fourth straight win and hope to gain ground in the NFC North when they meet the struggling Bears. Minnesota is 8-2 after beating Tennessee last week. The Vikings trail first-place Detroit by a game and are one ahead of Green Bay. Last-place Chicago has four straight losses after losing 20-19 to the Packers. The Bears let a lead slip away in the closing minutes against Green Bay and came up short when Cairo Santos’ 46-yard field goal got blocked.

Lucas Raymond scored with 51 seconds remaining and the Detroit Red Wings beat the New York Islanders 2-1. Jonatan Berggren also scored to help Detroit snap a three-game losing streak. Alex Lyon finished with 22 saves. Simon Holmstrom scored for the Islanders, who have lost five of their last six games. Berggren tied it with 4:46 remaining in regulation with his third, before Raymond got the go-ahead score in the final minute. Raymond took a pass from Dylan Larkin and scored from the left circle, lifting the puck past Sorokin’s glove for his third.
Blackhawks 3, Panthers 1 – Mrazek makes 32 saves as the Blackhawks beat the Panthers 3-1
Petr Mrazek made 32 saves and Teuvo Teravainen scored, helping the Chicago Blackhawks top the Florida Panthers 3-1. Craig Smith and Nick Foligno also scored as Chicago stopped a three-game slide. The Blackhawks also improved to 3-5-0 at home this season. Mrazek returned to Chicago’s lineup after he missed Tuesday’s 3-2 loss to Florida because of a personal matter. Sam Reinhart scored his 15th goal for Florida, which lost for the fourth time in five games.

Tre Donaldson and reserve Sam Walters both scored 13 for Michigan. Donaldson had five assists and Walters was 3 for 6 from beyond the arc. Vladislav Goldin scored 12. Bubu Benjamin finished with 15 points on 5-for-7 shooting from distance for the Texans (1-5). Ronnie Harrison scored 14. Michigan will square off against Virginia Tech in the Fort Myers Tip-Off on Monday.

Arne Osojnik had 16 points in Eastern Michigan’s 68-64 win against Oakland on Thursday night.
Osojnik shot 6 for 13, including 4 for 9 from beyond the arc for the Eagles (3-2). Da’Sean Nelson added 15 points while shooting 6 of 13 from the field and 3 for 4 from the line and also had seven rebounds. Jalin Billingsley went 5 of 6 from the field to finish with 12 points.

NCAAFB – Michigan State eyes snapping 3-game losing streak vs. Purdue
Michigan State must win its final two games to keep its postseason bowl hopes alive, starting with a home game against Purdue on Saturday. The Spartans have dropped three straight games for the second time this season. Purdue has yet to defeat an FBS opponent and is finishing a brutal four-game stretch where it’s been outscored 155-30. With the Boilermakers closing the season against Indiana this will be their best remaining chance to beat an FBS team this season. Purdue has lost eight of its last nine games against Michigan State.
NCAAFB – Michigan hosts Northwestern, needing a win to be bowl eligible
Northwestern plays at Michigan on Saturday and both teams need a win to be bowl eligible. The defending national champion Wolverines need a win to be bowl eligible under first-year coach Sherrone Moore because they will be heavy underdogs next week on the road against rival and second-ranked Ohio State. If the Wildcats pull off an upset at the Big House and close the regular season next week with a win against Illinois at home, they will have a chance to play in the postseason for the second time in two seasons under coach David Braun.
NCAAFB – No. 6 Notre Dame chasing playoff spot, No. 18 Army tries to stay unbeaten
No. 6 Notre Dame has won eight straight and is trying to chase down a berth in the College Football Playoff as it faces No. 18 Army on Saturday at Yankee Stadium. The Fighting Irish have two games remaining in the regular season. Army has won 13 straight, the longest current winning streak in the nation, and is one of three remaining unbeaten teams in FBS. The Black Knights have already clinched a spot in the American Athletic Conference championship game on Dec. 6 against No. 20 Tulane and the playoff rankings could come into play as a tiebreaker to determine who hosts the game.
NCAAFB – Top FB recruit Bryce Underwood changes commitment from LSU to Michigan
Top football recruit Bryce Underwood has flipped to Michigan after pledging to play at LSU. That’s according to a person familiar with the situation who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to share the recruit’s plans to join the Wolverines. Underwood pinned a post on his Instagram account, showing a post in which On3.com reported that he has committed to Michigan. The 6-foot-3 quarterback played at Belleville High School about 15 miles east of Michigan’s campus, and told LSU nearly a year ago he intended to enroll there.
NCAAFB – MAC football goes all in on November weeknights for the TV viewers
On a damp night with temperatures dipping into the 30s, fans in sparsely filled stands bundled up to watch Buffalo beat 37-20 Eastern Michigan on gray turf. The football game was not particularly notable, but it was played on one of the nights the Mid-American Conference has made its own. When the conference has played football games on ESPN or ESPN2 over the last two seasons, the linear television audience has been 10 times larger than when conference schools have met on Saturdays and get lost in the shuffle when viewers have many more choices.

Miller was 8 for 12 from 3-point range — two of those coming in overtime — and LaMelo Ball had 35 points and nine assists before fouling out one second into OT as Charlotte prevailed after squandering a 20-point lead in the third quarter. Detroit’s Cade Cunningham had 27 points and 10 assists before leaving the game with a hip injury with 48 seconds remaining in regulation after being fouled by Grant Williams. Cunningham made two free throws before leaving the game.

NBA – President Biden welcomes 2024 NBA champion Boston Celtics to White House
President Joe Biden welcomed “Coach Joe” Mazzulla and the Boston Celtics to the White House to celebrate the franchise’s unprecedented 18th NBA championship. The tradition is believed to have begun when Bill Russell’s 1963 Celtics met with President John F. Kennedy. Biden welcomed the NBA’s 2024 champions and gave them a tour of the Oval Office. In all, the league’s most-decorated franchise has won at least one title in eight of the last 13 presidential administrations.
WNBA – Teresa Weatherspoon isn’t dwelling on surprising firing by Chicago Sky
Teresa Weatherspoon is focused on her future and not dwelling on the past. It’s been nearly two months since the Chicago Sky fired her as coach after just one season with the franchise. She spoke for the first time since she was let go after a 13-27 season with the Sky. She’s now working with her new team in the Unrivaled 3-on-3 league. A lot of Weatherspoon’s role with the new league will be about player development.
MLB – Shohei Ohtani wins third MVP award, first in NL. Aaron Judge earns AL MVP
Shohei Ohtani won his third Most Valuable Player Award and first in the National League, and Aaron Judge earned his second American League honor on Thursday. Ohtani was a unanimous MVP for the third time, receiving all 30 first-place votes and 420 points in voting by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America. New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor was second with 263 points and Arizona second baseman Ketel Marte third with 229. Judge was a unanimous pick for the first time. Kansas City shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. got all 30 second-place votes for 270 points, and Yankees outfielder Juan Soto was third with 21 third-place votes and 229 points.
MLB – Ohtani in early stages of rehab from shoulder surgery hopes to be ready for opener
Shohei Ohtani is in the early stages of rehabilitation from left shoulder surgery after the World Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar says the goal is for him to be ready to pitch and hit by opening day next March, but he’s going to be conservative in his approach and make sure he’s totally healthy first. Ohtani won his third MVP award Thursday, and first in the National League. He was in Los Angeles with his wife and beloved dog, Decoy, although because of his surgery four days after the Dodgers’ World Series victory over the New York Yankees, the family hasn’t been able to celebrate.
