If you’re planning on shopping Cyber Monday, why not consider buying from a Michigan business?
Cyber Monday started in 2005. It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving when online shops usually post deals to get you to buy from them. Michigan Retailers Association spokesperson Vic Veda says shoppers can make it a Michigan Monday this year.
“A lot of great local retail has e-commerce capabilities online, and they’re running great Cyber Monday deals just like the rest of the internet,” Veda said. “So we’re really encouraging shoppers to shop local, shop small, and support these Michigan businesses.”
And it really makes a difference. Veda says that shifting just 10% of your out-of-state e-commerce purchases to a local retailer would boost the Michigan economy by $1.5 billion.
