Rev. Terrill (Terry) M. Schneider, Jr. went home to Heaven on November 17th, 2024 at age 72. He passed away at home in South Haven, Michigan surrounded by his loving wife and family.
Terry was born in Akron, Ohio on July 17, 1952 to Terril M. Schneider Sr. and Shirley J. Schneider. He grew up in Munroe Falls, Ohio and met his future wife Linda at church in his teens. Terry graduated from Stow High School of Stow, OH in 1970. He and Linda married on September 19, 1970. In his early work career, Terry worked for the family business, Falls Mold and Die, and became a journeyman tool and die maker. He relocated his family to South Haven, Michigan in 1985 and continued working as a skilled tradesman at various companies for another 15 years.
Terry was a devout evangelical Christian and even at a young age, he heard the call to ministry. He loved to teach Bible Study and Sunday school at the First United Methodist Church in South Haven and was involved in the Kalamazoo Area Emmaus Community. Terry pursued higher education, with an Associate degree from Lake Michigan College followed by a Bachelor’s Degree from Sienna Heights University. He obtained his license to preach from Garrett University and was ordained as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church. Terry became a full-time minister serving at Scottdale United Methodist Church of St. Joseph, MI and Faith United Methodist Church of Bridgman, MI before his retirement from the Global Methodist Church after 22 years of ministry. He also served as a volunteer Hospice Chaplain for over a decade and a half.
Terry continued his dedication to life-long learning, including two educational trips abroad. He enhanced his knowledge of theology through completing a study program culminating in a trip to the Holy Land sites in Israel and another to England focusing on the life and ministry of John Wesley. These were some of the most cherished experiences of his life.
Terry was a life-long fan of the Cleveland Indians (Guardians), Ohio State Buckeyes, and the Cleveland Browns. He loved his country, loved music, loved pocket knives, and loved people, but most of all, he loved Jesus and his family. He is remembered as a loving and dedicated father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who coached and mentored everyone in life, sports, and the Christian faith.
He is preceded in death by his parents Terrill M. Schneider, Sr. and Shirley J. Schneider and his brother Trent E. Schneider. Terry is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 54 years, Linda M. Schneider (Warner) and their three children, James (Melissa) Schneider, John (Lisa) Schneider, and Jane (James) Hill. Terry and Linda have eight grandchildren: Emily (Nick) Hannum, Lauren (Nik) Oviedo, Hannah Schneider, Erin Schneider, Jared Schneider, Jadon Schneider, Caleb Hill, Chloe Hill, and one great-granddaughter, Haelynn Oviedo.
