If you were hoping to choose a new healthcare plan provided by your employer, you’re running out of time.

Friday, November 15 is the last day of an open enrollment period that allows employees to adjust or switch their health insurance.

Brian Mills, with the Michigan Association of Health Plans, says mot employers give you a few different options.

“At the end of the year, somewhere around two to six weeks, they get a choice that they want to change their plan from, let’s say, I was with McLaren Health and I want to go to Health Alliance Plan, HAP, or I was with Blue Cross Blue Shield, and now I want to get it from United Healthcare,” Mills said. “But it’s, to my knowledge, it’s not a requirement in the employer-sponsored commercial market, that being the open enrollment period. It’s based upon the employer’s preference.”

If you’re planning to get health insurance through the Affordable Care Act, the open enrollment period runs through December 15.
