Marilyn (Carpenter) Newell, 99, passed away peacefully on Friday afternoon, November 8, 2024.
She was born on Nov. 26,1943 in Ashland, Ohio to Lloyd and Mildred Carpenter. She was united in marriage to Edward Newell on Nov. 8,1964 in Nova, Ohio.
Marilyn lived a life full of faithful service: raising small boys while Ed was deployed in the Navy; going back to work to support the family while Ed returned to college; service in church and at Grace Christian School; working more than 10 years at Little Child Nursery School; passing on her faith to her children, grandchildren and daughters-in-law; honoring and serving her own parents.
Marilyn leaves behind her beloved husband of 60 years – Edward Newell; three sons; Dean (Linda) Newell, Adam (Jenny) Newell and Carter (Michelle) Newell; six grandchildren: Alyssa Newell, Julie Newell, Cassandra (Caleb) Crooks, Emma Newell, Garrett Newell and Anna Newell; and three siblings: Roger (Patty) Carpenter, Louise (Gary) Leiendecker and Eileen (Jesse) Raubenolt.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024, at Sister Lakes Community Church, 67119 M-152, Dowagiac, MI 49047. Pastor Scott Stambaugh will officiate. Interment will follow in Keller Cemetery, Harford, MI.
In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a donation to Grace Christian School in Watervliet, MI.
