Governor Gretchen Whitmer has announced a turkey naming contest for this year’s turkey pardon.
Since 2022, Governor Whitmer has pardoned a turkey before Thanksgiving, and this year’s naming contest runs through November 12 at 11:59 p.m.
Last year, the governor pardoned Dolly Pardon, a turkey selected from more than 3,900 entries in the statewide contest. In 2022, the governor pardoned Mitch E. Gander.
There is no limit on how many turkey names one person can submit via the contest. You can find the contest right here.
Governor Whitmer says she looks forward to reviewing all the fun, creative names that Michiganders come up with this year.
