Bridge Michigan: Democrats, Republicans will have to work together

Michigan Democrats will no longer have full control of the state.

Republicans will reclaim the majority in the Michigan House of Representatives next year after flipping four key seats.

Bridge Michigan Deputy Editor Jonathan Oosting says there will need to be more bipartisan work.

Democrats are going to still control the governor’s office for the next two years as well as the state Senate, so essentially, if Republicans were to flip the House as Rick Snyder has been saying, that would provide them sort of a check and balance on Democratic control in Lansing,” Oosting said. “They would essentially be able to block liberal bills that that they don’t like that and it would force at least some level of compromise to get things done.”

Oosting says Michigan Democrats will most likely work to get as much done as they can in the next two months.
