Parts of the Niles are under a boil water advisory as of Sunday evening.
City of Niles water superintendent James Stevens tells us a water main break caused reduced water pressure to some areas below the state standard, and therefore a water advisory was issued.
“We took the samples today, they’re being dropped off now,” Stevens says. “We won’t get a result, it’s a 24-hour test, until tomorrow.”
The areas affected are Ballard Hils, Rolling Hills, Philip Road, Platt Street from Hance Street to Phillip Road, and anyone else who experienced a water outage on Sunday. Stevens says the advisory will be for at least the next few days and will wait until testing samples come back to lift the advisory.
