There’s been a new leadership shuffle at American Electric Power, affecting some positions at the Cook nuclear power plant in Bridgman.
American Electric Power spokesperson Scott Blake tells us AEP Executive Vice President and Chief Nuclear Officer Shane Lies, who was just promoted this summer, has been promoted again. He’s now the executive vice president of projects and services.
“He’s going to take the experience that he had from Cook plant, his time there, focusing on the importance of providing safe and reliable power to customers, and use that in a broader range of duties,” Blake said.
Now stepping into the role of executive vice president and chief nuclear officer will be Cook Plant Site Vice President Kelly Ferneau. Blake says she was a good fit.
“Kelly’s been with AEP, it’s been a little over a decade now. Through that time, she’s demonstrated that she’s a proven leader, and this was the right opportunity for her. And Scott Bailey is going to take over as our site vice president there at Cook.”
Blake says the leadership changes shouldn’t mean any major differences in the day to day jobs of Cook plant employees. He says the plant will continue its tradition of generating reliable power for its customers.
