The Michigan State Police has announced the promotion of F/Lt. Jeremy Carlisle to captain and commander of the Fifth District, covering Southwest Michigan.

Captain Carlisle replaces Capt. Michael Brown, who recently retired from the department.

Prior to the promotion, Captain Carlisle served as first lieutenant and commander of the Niles Post. He has also served as lieutenant at the Niles Post and the Recruiting and Selection Section, a sergeant at the Paw Paw Post, and a detective on a cold case team during his 20-year career.

He has held the ranks of trooper, detective trooper, sergeant, lieutenant, and first lieutenant. Captain Carlisle, his wife, Aryn, and their two daughters live in Cassopolis.

Captain Carlisle has a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Bethel University. He is a graduate of the 18th MSU School of Staff and Command. He is also pursuing a master’s degree in business administration from Cleary University.
