It is with a mixture of sadness and loving reflection that we announce the passing of Harold Albert Reid Sr. on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 in St. Joseph, MI born on November 30, 1935, in Mendon, MI. Harold, a lifelong resident of Niles, MI, and recently moved to Buchanan, MI was a man of resilience, compassion, and unmatched work ethic. His life was punctuated by the hearty laughter he shared with family and friends, the wisdom he imparted through his stories, and the love he had for his community. Harold was a proud US Air Force veteran.

Harold was renowned for his skills as an automotive mechanic, a profession he loved dearly and from which he retired as the owner of Reid’s Garage. His dedication to his craft was only surpassed by his dedication to his family. Those who knew Harold will remember him as a man who could fix anything. His legacy lives on through his sons, Mikel (Treva), Anthony (Patty), Troy (Christina); and his beloved sisters, Carolyn (Steve) Burger and Wilma Dunnivan, and his cherished grandchildren, Timmy, Caleb, Anthony, and Brandon. Harold’s tireless spirit and boundless love will be missed immensely.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Mildred Reid, his cherished wife, Ruby Reid, and their son, Harold Jr. His life and memory will be honored during a visitation at Hoven Funeral Home, 414 East Front Street, Buchanan, Michigan, 49107, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. EDT. A graveside service will follow at 1:30 p.m. EDT at Smith Chapel, 29858 Redfield Street, Niles, Michigan, 49120. Family will celebrate Harold’s life at a later date.
