Village of Three Oaks working to lift boil water order

The village of Three Oaks is getting closer to lifting its water boil order. The order was placed last Friday due to coliform bacteria.

Water and sewer operator in charge Dan Faulkner tells us they are working to disinfect the issue.

“Currently, we introduced chlorine to the system to disinfect and we are now waiting on the second set of sample results to come back.”

Faulkner says the first set of samples they sent in came back as negative, and the second set of sample results will come back Friday afternoon. If those come back negative also, it is up to EGLE and the state of Michigan to lift the order.

“We will be posting on our website, we’ll be posting on Facebook, and we also have our alert system.”

While they can’t say for sure, city officials believe the issue was caused from a water main break that allowed some dirt and bacteria to enter the system.
