If you’re ready for a fall winery tour, the grape crop is looking good this year in Michigan.
Even though conditions have been dry over the state, Brys Estate Vineyard and Winery Winemaking Director Coenraad Stassen says the crop has done well this year.
“It’s been excellent,” Stassen said. “I know we got a lot of our rain in the spring and early summer, and then since then it’s been dry, and for the grape crop that’s excellent because that’s lower stress on the mildew issues that we normally get, and also it concentrates the flavors by slightly dehydrating the fruit.”
Stassen says they’ve already started harvesting the grapes. Those grapes will be made into wine and sparkling wines and be on store shelves by next April.
