Interim Superintendent appointed at South Haven Public Schools

The South Haven Public Schools Board of Education has voted to name Carey Frost as the interim superintendent following the retirement of Kevin Schooley this month.

Frost is the district curriculum director, and she has served as interim superintendent before, when Schooley’s predecessor left. The board noted this week Frost’s time at the helm went well, so it’s comfortable with her as interim superintendent as a search begins for Schooley’s long-term replacement.

The goal is to hire someone by the winter.

Frost tells us she’s not seeking the permanent superintendent job as she’s happy in her current role.

The board has hired the West Michigan Education Research and Development Foundation to help in the new superintendent search. Schooley has agreed to serve as a superintendent consultant for the remainder of the year.
