The Van Buren County Sheriff’s office reports multiple injuries from a serious crash on Red Arrow Highway Wednesday night.

Just before 6:30 pm, emergency crews responded to the intersection of Red Arrow Highway and CR681 for a two car crash. One of the vehicles reportedly rolled over several times and there were several people injured.

Sheriff Daniel Abbott says when officers arrived, one of the victims was receiving CPR from bystanders. First responders continued life-saving measures and transported all the injured for medical care.

The initial investigation shows that there was a 2001 Chevrolet Tracker occupied by 5 teenage females from Hartford that was traveling south bound on CR 681. The driver of the Tracker failed to stop at the stop sign at Red Arrow Hwy and struck a west bound 2012 Ford Focus that was occupied by 4 men from Hartford. The crash caused the Focus to rollover.

The sheriff’s office says multiple people in each vehicle were not wearing seatbelts and all sustained injuries in the crash.

All parties involved were evaluated and transported to hospitals for treatment. Two of the teenage females suffered life threatening injuries and are listed in critical condition.

Both Red Arrow Hwy and CR 681 were closed in the area of the crash for approximately two and half hours but have since re-opened. The crash investigation is still ongoing at this time.
