The latest state budget included $150,000 for renovations at Bridgman City Hall.
Bridgman City Manager Juan Ganum tells us he recently got word from the office of state Representative Joey Andrews that the city has been approved for the funding. Ganum says city hall does need some work.
“It is an aging building, and although it underwent an extensive remodeling over 20 plus years ago, it’s showing signs of age and we have some water damage in certain areas on the exterior walls,” Ganum said. “So, we’re looking at repairing the water damage, doing some roof repair work, some siding work, and possibly replacing a few windows if the budget allows for it.”
Ganum says the city did allocate $80,000 for city hall repairs next year, but with this $150,000 from the state, there will be a slight change of plans. Some of the previously-allocated local funds will now be used to install a security camera system at city hall, while the state dollars will be used for the repairs.
Ganum says it was a nice surprise to learn state help is coming.
