Cornerstone Alliance is inviting the community to a block party to celebrate the completion of the Pipestone Alley Activation Project in Benton Harbor this month.

The project is an effort to transform the alley bounded by Pipestone Avenue, West Main Street, Colfax Street, and Wall Street into a community gathering space complete with a ground mural, string lights, and new seating areas. The space is designed to foster a welcoming environment for all members of our community.

Cornerstone Alliance will celebrate the completion of the project on September 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. with food available for purchase, live music, and a chance to mingle. Everyone’s invited.

The Pipestone Alley Activation Project goes back to 2022, when Berrien County was awarded a $2.6 million Michigan Economic Development Corporation grant to make improvements in Benton Harbor and Niles with the help of partner agencies.

Cornerstone Interim President Chris Frank says the project “is a testament to our commitment to supporting and enhancing our local communities.”
