Berrien County Commissioners to discuss meeting frequency

The Berrien County Board of Commissioners is asking itself if it really needs to meet so often.

At Thursday’s regular meeting, Commissioner Bob Harrison of the Personnel Committee told colleagues the body has been discussing the meeting schedule. It’s going to bring the question to the board’s Committee of the Whole in two weeks, assuming it has the chair’s permission.

We’ll devote time to talking about the frequency of the board of commissioners meetings, and we’ll give you an opportunity to complete a survey, and we’ll look at the results,” Harrison said.

The board currently meets every Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Berrien County Administration Center, except on dates when it holds night meetings. Those night meetings are held at different places around the county.

Commissioners also have heavy committee meeting schedules.
