The Van Buren County Road Commission is celebrating a longtime employee for his decades of service.

Randy Moser is celebrating 45 years with the road commission. Moser told us his time with the road commission has been excellent since being hired as a seasonal road maintenance employee in May of 1979.

The fact that I really like my job and I like the type of work, working outside, I wouldn’t want to have been stuck in a factory or something,” Moser said. “I was raised on a small dairy farm and I was always outside there.”

As a road maintenance employee, Moser performs a duties that include snow removal, mowing, and culvert installations. We asked how the Van Buren County Road Commission has changed in the past 45 years, and he pointed to technology.

I would have to say the machinery, trucks and all the other machines that we have, they’ve advanced so much from what things were when I first started. And the condition of our roads are much better.”

Van Buren County Road Commission Managing Director Bret Witkowski said it’s a blessing to have Moser on his staff, adding he makes valuable contributions to the agency’s culture.

Moser is being celebrated this week by co-workers, family, and friends.
