U of M professor: debate tonight could sway election

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will take to the debate stage tonight in Philadelphia.

Aaron Kall, the director of Debate at the University of Michigan, says both candidates are preparing in their own way and how they perform could sway voters.

“Especially in a close race, both 2016 and 2020, races were extremely close, tens of thousands of votes amongst a handful of battleground states,” Kall said. “I think everybody expects this again. Even though there’s only a small number of undecided voters, if you can reach out to just a small number, that could be enough topotentially swing the election.”

A new CBS Poll shows Harris leading Trump by one point in Michigan, within the margin of error.
