LMC College Night this month

Representatives from up to 60 colleges, universities, trade schools, and branches of the military will be on hand when Lake Michigan College hosts its annual College Night at the Mendel Center on September 16.

LMC Marketing Director Jennifer Shoemaker tells us College Night is a chance for anyone trying to select a college to meet in person with representatives of various institutions and learn more. LMC has made getting information easier than ever.

Students can register for a barcode and if they want to get more information from a school, all that they have to do is have the school scan the barcode and they will automatically get information from them,” Shoemaker said. “I remember when I was looking for colleges, you got stuff in the mail and it was just a whole bunch of crazy stuff. Now it’s just a quick bar scan. It’s fantastic.”

Shoemaker says they’ll also have a couple of financial aid sessions at College Night.

I think most people who are looking at colleges or in college know that government decided to overhaul the FAFSA, the Free Application for Financial Aid, this past year, and it’s  difficult to maneuver sometimes.”

Shoemaker says College Night is like a trade show, only with colleges showing off what they have to offer. On hand will be both big and small institutions.

Registration is not required to attend College Night, but it’s best to register to attend because then LMC can assign the student a bar code to make getting information easier.

College Night will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Mendel Center on the 16th. You can learn more right here.
