AAA is activating its Tow to Go service this Labor Day weekend.

AAA spokesperson Adrienne Woodland tells us Tow to Go is a way for someone who’s had a bit too much to drink to get home safely without having to drive.

When someone calls Tow to Go, AAA dispatches a tow truck to transport the would-be impaired driver and their vehicle to a safe location within a 10-mile radius,” Woodland said. “The program is free and it’s available to AAA members as well as non-members, yet AAA asks that it be treated as a last resort.”

Since it was started more than 25 years ago, Tow to Go has gotten more than 30,000 drunks off the road. Woodland says it is free and confidential.

The program will be available from 6 p.m. Friday through 6 a.m. Tuesday. To reach Tow to Go, call 855-2-TOW-2-GO.

Again, the service is to be regarded as a last resort. Woodland asks everyone to make plans for a ride home if they’re going to be drinking.
