Benton Harbor City Commissioners are preparing to interview some candidates for city manager.

Speaking at the meeting of the Benton Harbor Personnel and Finance Committee this week, Commissioner Edward Isom said members are sorting through the resumes now.

We had, out of 24, selected five for the city manager position…We sent out all the applications to resumes to the commission,” Isom said.

Isom said city commissioners will review the applications and choose which candidates to interview, possibly next month.

Also at the meeting, city human resources coordinator Lisa Golliday said the city currently has nine open positions. They include the city manager’s post and that of finance director. Golliday noted the city had five layoffs in the past month, all at the water plant.
