The city of Buchanan is accepting applications for city commissioner.

The open position is for the remainder of the 2-year term ending in December of 2026 – created a week ago when former Buchanan Mayor Sean Denison resigned, saying he got more than he bargained for as a public official including visceral public criticism, his home vandalized, and an initiative recalling his election.

A city posting on the city’s website says interested parties should fill and return completed applications to the Clerk by no later than Friday, August 30 at 4:00pm.

Applications are available at city hall and you can find more information here.

Applicants must be city residents, registered voters, and over the age of 18. For questions, you’re advised to reach out to the Buchanan City Clerk.
