Lincoln Township has received a clean, unmodified audit for the most recent fiscal year.

The Lincoln Township Board of Trustees this week heard from accounting firm Plante and Moran, which presented the latest review of the township’s finances. It said the township in its general fund spent about $2.7 million during the fiscal year ending March 31 and took in about $3 million. A firm CPA said that’s how it should be.

I’m not sure if there’s anyone from Washington in the audience here, but pay attention. This is why you want a government right here. Stay within your means and things tend to end well.”

The township police fund brought in about $2.4 million, of which about $2.2 million was spent. Penner credited the balanced budget to township leaders being diligent about spending.

It’s a very strong budget process. You go through a lot of work. You adopt your budget, you amend it during the year, and then you’re paying attention during the year.”

The township has a fund balance of about $4.5 million. The township also still has about $665,000 in federal ARPA dollars left, and that must be spent by the end of 2026.

Penner said another positive of the year is the township invested about $513,000 in capital assets, something many municipalities don’t often find possible.
