You may see military members throughout Michigan over the next few weeks taking part in training for Northern Strike.

Colonel Todd Fitzpatrick with the Michigan Army National Guard is the operation’s land director.

Northern Strike is a joint national training capability, accredited exercise, and what we do is we bring in partners from throughout the Joint Force,” Fitzpatrick said. “We have international participants, and we get after collective training based on commander’s needs.”

Fitzpatrick says there will be 6,300 people taking part from 32 states and five international partners. They’ll be training starting Saturday at Camp Grayling, the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, and in other areas throughout the state.

The exercise continues through August 17.
