The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department has recovered a classic car that was stolen out of Waverly Township this month.

The department says sometime near the July 4, a vintage red 1965 Plymouth and 2010 East Texas Long Horn utility trailer were taken from a barn. The suspects appeared to have forced entry.

Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department Detective Lieutenant Dave Walker described the current investigation.

Suspected buyer of that vehicle had seen it for sale up in the Kalamazoo area,” Walker said. “An agreement was made on a price to purchase that. A suspect who we’re still attempting to contact that had possession of the vehicle in Kalamazoo actually delivered to an individual unsuspected buyer about 10 miles southwest of Vicksburg.”

Sheriff’s deputies traveled to Vicksburg to retrieve the vehicle and return it to its owner. The trailer is still missing.

Walker says anyone with information on the trailer’s location is asked to contact the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department.
