A new singalong series in South Haven has announced it’s cutting its first season short.

SoHa Sings organizer Cheri Stein tells us the remainder of the shows planned from August to October are cancelled due to health issues. Despite that, she says SoHa Sings did get off to a great start this year.

“The first year, everyone was absolutely wonderful to work with,” Stein said. “Facebook, that went pretty crazy. And showing up and singing. The musicians were fabulous. Our weather was always really good. It was a really, really fun and great learning experience. Everything jjst went well.”

The idea behind SoHa Sings was to hold a public singalong in Dyckman Park each week. Anyone could participate, and singing talent was not required. Stein says the engagements would usually attract about 15 people.

Although the inaugural season of SoHa Sings was cut short, Stein said she wants it to return.

That’s always a possibility because now we know what we’re doing. Basically, it’s too early to call. So we’re not about to, at this point, say, yeah, we’re going to do that. Too early to say, basically.”

The singalong event was created to generate a spirit of unity and have a good time.
