Governor Gretchen Whitmer is ready to go on tour, adding fuel to the speculation that she could be a potential replacement for President Biden if he decides to drop out of the race for the White House.

The governor released a new book, True Gretch, this week. She appeared on CNN and talked about her role in Michigan.

In the book, I talk about showing up in every community and valuing the voter in the rural part of Michigan, just like I do in downtown big cities,” Whitmer said. “Every voice matters, and listening to what people have to say is, I think, a real superpower that I have become a better governor and a better leader because I listen to the people I serve.”

Whitmer continues to support President Biden publicly in his campaign for reelection, despite some calls from Democrats for him to drop out of the race. They include Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who became the first Michigan Democratic member of the House to call for Biden to step aside Thursday.

Whitmer’s book tour includes at least four events in Michigan. Among them are one in Traverse City on July 31. She is also hitting the road outside of Michigan with a stop planned in Washington, D.C. On July 30.
