The Lincoln Township Library is preparing for its $1.5 million renovation project, set to begin in September.

Library Director Joelle Wake told the Lincoln Township Board of Trustees Tuesday the library has found a temporary space from which to offer limited services for the 12 weeks its main location will be closed. They’re still waiting for the lease to work out, but if it does, Wake told us the library will be located in Royalton Township in a space near Roger’s Foodland.

The services we will provide will be some printing, faxing, internet, computers,” Wake said. “We’ll have a small collection there, which will be new items and along with some popular titles of different things. We will be providing some programming over there. The building is about 5,000 square feet. As long as we get that, we will do a couple things over there for program-wise, but we are doing things throughout the community.”

Wake said the library’s last day open be September 14, and then it’ll be shut down for the duration of the construction. The second, temporary location will be a way for residents to continue receiving some services.

Work taking place at the library building will include the installation of new shelving, new carpeting and paint, added amenities like a coffee alcove, a digital lab, a dedicated teen space, and enhancements to the early literacy center. They’re also expanding the large meeting room.

The renovation project comes after about five years of planning.
