Michigan State Police and the Niles Police Department are planning an open house for this month.

State police say the public will be welcome to come out to the MSP post on Silverbrook Avenue in Niles on July 14 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. to learn more about what both police agencies do.

Resources from both agencies will be on hand, including fully marked patrol vehicles, a Humvee, the bomb squad, a crime scene technician, a fire truck, and an ambulance. There will also be food and activities including child identification kits, a bounce house, a dunk tank, drunk goggles, and a drunk/drugged driving pedal kart.

Michigan State Police say they’re actively recruiting new troopers, and anyone interested in joining should stop by the open house to ask questions. Recruiters will be available to chat.
