Following a fire that destroyed the Ramona Roller Rink in Sister Lakes back in May, a celebration of the rink’s history and a fundraiser to help it reopen will be held this Saturday.

Christina Castaneda has helped organize the fundraiser and tells us the party will be in the rink’s parking lot from 11 a.m. to dusk.

We’re going to have vendors from all over the community coming to sell stuff to the public,” Castaneda said. “A lot of the vendors are donating a certain percentage of their proceeds to the cause when it’s all said and done. The booth fees are all 100% donated to Ramona. We’re going to have food trucks, we’re going to have kids activities, and then at dusk, we’ll have fireworks. And I think something that a lot of people are looking forward to — especially the ones that used to go to Ramona — we have some DJs that are going to be out there DJing that used to DJ at Ramona.”

They’ll also have facepainting, mini golf, and a raffle.

Castaneda says the rink had insurance, but not quite enough to cover the rebuild.

Everyone’s invited to the event, which is also being held as a 96th birthday celebration for the rink.
