A Gobles couple is facing charges in a child sex abuse case.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department says it was contacted by the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office in Indiana as part of a child abuse investigation on Sunday. That led to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department developing evidence, with the help of Child Protective Services, and arresting 46-year-old Jesse Stone and 38-year-old Stephanie Stone the same day.
As part of the investigation, sheriff’s deputies searched the Stone household, which included a home daycare. However, they say they don’t believe any children who attend the daycare were being abused.
Jesse Stone is now charged with several counts criminal sexual conduct and child abuse with bond set at $750,000. Stephanie Stone is charged with several counts of child abuse with bond set at $100,000.
Police have not relased additional details of the case.
